Dear lazyweb,
Next week I’ll be travelling to the wonderful Guadec 2007 conference in Birmingham. I’ll be flying from Amsterdam ( Schiphol Airport) to Birmingham International Airport.
I’m wondering whether I should bring my laptop. I really want my laptop as hand luggage, not in the aircraft hold… however, information on this topic is hard to find:
All information is appreciated! You can reach me via mail or jabber; please refer to my about page for contact information. You may also ping me on IRC (nickname uws). I’ll update this post once I have more information.
Update: It seems bringing your laptop in your hand luggage is not much of a problem, but not in combination with liquids for some reason. Most likely the laptop needs to be unpacked and X-ray scanned separated from the rest of the luggage, but there is usually no need to turn it on (but save some battery power to boot up, just in case). Thanks for the quick responses I received (you know who you are)!
Update 2: Oh, and if you really need to start your laptop, make sure you don’t leave any browser windows pointing to this page open…
